And he actually said in so many words, “I did all this pioneering work on stereotype threat and how it works — but it never occurred to me to study HOW IT AFFECTS THE STEREOTYPED POPULATION until a group of young black female psychologists started working on that question!” I was gobsmacked. Really, you basically invented a concept that shows how racist expectations affect human interactions in the workplace/academy, and it NEVER OCCURRED to you to ask about its effects on psychological victims of racism?
